Anyone have an 870 like this, or know much about them?

Its an 870 magnum special purpose waterfowl edition.

Built in 1989, has really nice dark walnut furniture with a dull satin finish and cut checkering. 26" chrome lined barrel with rem chokes, swivels and a camo sling. The steel is a matte finish, looks similar to the express, but I believe it is parkerized because it feels different (not rough). The bolt is black but smooth like it was blued not coated.

Its built from a wing master and not the express, but it only says 870 magnum on one side, and special purpose on the other. I found a few references to these being made starting in 1986, but nothing that says when they stopped offering them.

Very nice gun, smooth and finished like a wingmaster, but not blingy, and much nicer looking and refined than the express.

    G-,
whats the difference between Special Purpose, Premier, etc ? Wood vs. synthetic vs. dull wood finish or ????
My 11-87 S.P. bought in 93 or 94 is synthetic camo but what makes it a "Special Purpose" is beyond me.

    Same 11-87 in synthetic ?
Mine is the old "Bottom Land" camo, 3" 12ga.
What's the other model...."sportsman"? Between Special P., Premier, Sportsman (or whatever) and so on, I never knew what the difference was or which model was "better", if any.
The "Express" is not as finely "finished" or "polished", correct ?

    Sorry Golovkin for the hi-jack.
