Our hunting brethren up north reporting cold weather but I went out yesterday and did not see one duck. Ringnecks should be here by now! Anybody spot any on the big water or in north florida? Don't worry I won't be crowding your marsh.:D

They will be there when they are supposed to! That said, none on the Big lake to your north as of yesterday. When I see the first bluebills on Tampa Bay, the ringnecks are always around too. No BB on the bay yet.

The ringers generally arrive the day before season in the glades the last few years. Scouting is a waste before then, imo.

Yeah, mostly cut the trail and saw the mud rafts to avoid, I am just excited and most seasons the birds show when they are supposed to.

Hooray! Saw a handful this past weekend, keeping my fingers crossed. The present advancing cold front is most welcome!

Several thousand bluebills have showed up in Hillsborough Bay over the last couple days. I'm sure the ringers are here also.

Reports of more ring bills in the area. Should be a good start.

Up here in South Carolina we are seeing very few ring necks this year where as most years they are here in huge rafts. It seems they have been replaced by blue bills. Surprisingly in our diver hunting areas we are seeing more canvasbacks than anything else. Not that I'm complaining but last night I watched almost 100 canvasbacks dump into an area that we normally only get a couple each season. Hopefully the ringer numbers increase by the second split!
