Gadwall banded in August of 2017 at Summer Lake, Oregon. Taken in NE CA.
Green must not have been flying if we are shooting at tuber eaters...
Sun was in my eyes.
Lots of snows around this last week. This one was to young to fly when banded on 7/31/2017 in Alaska but made it down to central California on 11/9/17 or earlier. Pretty amazing what these birds do with their migration. Maybe they are replacing neck collars with these fancy leg bands now.
Species: Lesser Snow Goose
Date banded: 07/31/2017
Banding Location: NEAR NUIQSUT, NORTH SLOPE BOROUGH, ALASKA, USA
Age: WAS TOO YOUNG TO FLY WHEN BANDED IN 2017
Did you check that bird closely for a toe tag?
I found this interesting my buddy killed a Brant today with web tag, tarsas, and leg band, banded same date same location as this snow
Seen the toe tag, metal and plastic band on a snow a few years ago.
On a hunt with friends, can't remember where it was band.
All I know is no one saw the toe tag until we got back to the trucks.
Maybe he was involved, you never know.
