Binoculars??

    Yes many birders like the 8x but they are also often looking at relatively close in songbirds. I call myself a semi serious birder because I focus on wetland birds. Makes slow hunting days go by easier. I switched to 10x binocs 30 years ago for birding and hunting/scouting.

    I've got the Bushnell waterproof/fogproof 8x42 and have been pleased with image quality and low light gathering, but often wish I had 10x42 for waterfowl scouting.

    I got vortex diamond back in the 10x30 compact i don't like them i lookin for a new pair of 10x40 compact that are good in low light i've been lookin at stienors and monarchs.

    vortex 10x42's love em and they have a phenominal Warranty.

    Steiner 8x30 Military. hard to beat German optics.

    I recently ordered a set of Bushnell PowerView 10x50's, looking forward to there arrival in the mail. Only shelled out 60$ so I'm pretty happy with that. Gonna be hard not to wish I had the ones I use for work, Fujinon Stabiscopes for finding kelp paddies, breezing schools of fish and etc... But with a price tag of several thousand bucks I feel good about only spending 60.
