I have a 19.5' center console Trophy that handles rough water really well. Was planning on using it to hunt divers on Smithown Bay and on LI Sound in the late fall and winter. The boat is all white. My plan was to set deeks (bluebill, cans, and through in a few mallards, because why not). Motor up current off about 100 or 150 yds and set anchor. Wait for ducks to come to the deeks, pull the anchor and drift in. Hopefully scatter whatever landed and make some shots. I have got right up on top of divers and eiders in the boat before (within 20 yards). They flare at the last second. I don't have any came canvas on the boat. Do you think I have a shot at being successful with this? I'm betting on the fact that these species are used to seeing fishing boats all the time plus somewhat lower hunting pressure.
