Sunklands - all I know is what I read on the Missouri daily harvest reports. Duck Creek, Otter Slough and Ten Mile Pond have a total of 176,000 mallards. Got to have weather to make them fly. I'm pretty familiar w/ that area. Those ducks trade back and forth in a 50 to 100 mile range but it takes weather to make them move. 50 degrees don't cut it. They have to move if private areas expect to kill any. Friend across the river from Cape Girardeau says there are also tons of ducks in that area but they also have not been moving. Ones that did moved at night w/ the full moon.

There's ducks but we're by no means loaded. I've seen OS have over a 100k alone. Mingo/DC would have 150K and TMP would have 75-80k, that's a ton of ducks. I live, farm and hunt between DC and OS and though we have ducks, I'd consider our numbers to be "thin in the skin". We've been really dry and warm, that's why hunting has been lackluster.

We killed 4 mallards today. This season has been rough for the areas I hunt. Second best day of the season for me (as far as number of birds killed). I'll take it. Hopefully this starts a trend, fingers crossed!

SE Minnesota. Right on the Miss River. Band returns show quite a few of our birds end up in Illinois. Been watching waves headed south for 2 days. Hope they stop for you boys.

Down by Havana there were no signs of anything new? Not even the few that are left around here were moving on the east side of the river.
