Conor had extensive scans earlier this week. Yesterday, his mom, our daughter-in-law, called to tell us this before she posted it on Conor Fights Cancer Facebook page. One year ago this month we sat down with Conor’s doctor and were told that it was the end of the road. That we should start planning his funeral and bring his siblings in to tell him goodbye. This month we sat down with that same doctor and heard the news that Conor’s SCANS ARE CLEAR! That he has NO evidence of disease on his scans! Y’all. We’ve been waiting eighteen months to hear this news. Eighteen months of cancer in his little body, trying to bring him down. It’s still so surreal to even think about! There have been so many days where it was hard to believe this day would come, so many times that we got bad news instead of good, which made it harder to picture this day actually happening! There’s still more treatment to come, to make sure any residual cancer cells don’t get a chance to start growing again, but we’re so incredibly thankful for all of the hard working doctors and nurses who kept finding new things to try for our boy. And we can never express enough gratitude for all the prayers and love shared by all of you on behalf of Conor and our family. I want to personally thank each of you who have prayed for, donated to his GoFundMe account, sent well wishes, whatever. I know that we are where we are today because of the prayers that have been offered in Conor's behalf. Now, according to the doctors at Johns Hopkins, it takes 8,000 cancer cells in his body in order for the scan to catch it. If he has 7,500 it may go undetected. Treatment will continue to include bone marrow transplant next month. Tara is the donor. Your continued faith and prayers will be greatly appreciate.
