Why would such a big guy need a gun to scare off that little worm???
I think a bridge over it would be neat, but I imagine it’d be cheaper to blast the crap out of the way and rebuild the roadbed.
They will most likely build a road right over it, there are tons of roads running through lava fields on those islands.
I was there a few years ago. You could drive ip to where the road ended from a lava flow. There was just a wall of lava rock. They never did anything to it.
You could see rows of rusty nails on top of lava where walls of houses had burned.
Apparently in many cases the homeowner's insurance does not cover lava damage...
Basically, unless the house catches fire and burns down (due to lava) many insurances might not cover home loss...
These people are literally living near "streets of fire." I cannot imagine, and I certainly feel for them... I have to wonder about the total damage, from farms, to homes, to roads, to wildlife???
I heard the other day they were using a large machine to remove some lava flow. Apparently it blocked a whole neighborhood and trapped a bunch of cars.
That's surprising considering I've been getting offers for discount flights to Hawaii like the planes are empty.
News report the other day said body count going to the Islands is WAY down. Lots of comments by the business owners saying this is a BIG island, and the lava is only affecting a relatively small area.
Neighbors with 2 kids are heading there Friday for 17 days. They said they it was stupid how cheap they are doing it for.
