Don't see many carved birds on here anymore. Just finished this one. Dark cork, juniper head, painted with traditions acrylics. First one I've made in a few years. I plan to hunt it in a couple of weeks then give it to a friend for Christmas in return for the hunt.

Very nice bird and one helluva of a nice gesture. He ought to treasure him.

I'm sure he will. Long story short he was supposed to go on a hunt in the OBX and had to back out due to unforeseen circumstances. It's a bucket list hunt for redheads and pintails from curtain blinds. He gave me his spot.

Nice work and it gets even better with the story behind it. :tu Things like this are why I wish old decoys could tell stories.

Thanks for all the compliments. Hopefully it'll have blood and feathers on it soon!
I see you are from Indiana, what part? My brother lives in Greenwood.

Thanks! Its gonna end up on the mantle but it better end up in the water first! I plan to spill blood over it next week.
