Sean seems wise and mature way beyond his 24 years. My wife and I enjoy seeing him on the show.

Judging from the fact that this is still in the wheelhouse, Phil is still remembered on the CM:

I'm sure the yellar stain on the ceiling over the captain's chair from the 5 packs of cigs he smoked every day will never get painted over, either. :l

Soon as you think you can do better from your desk job.
You think Sig, the Hillstrands or Phil were just fluffy fluffy lovey Dovey back when they first started as captains?! No!
Is Jake a perfect captain? No, but he'll get the hang of it and figure out his crew along with getting more quota down the road. Money talks in them parts and the crew that Jake has isn't anything like some of the other crews. He has to be a situational leader a lot more compared to the other captains due to his crew not being accustomed to each other nor the boat.

I saw his sons and I think Jonathan Hillstrand on Leno or Conan not to long after he died. Seems like I remember them saying during fishing it was like 9-10 packs a day.

It is a small group of boats and captains and to imply your former captain Sig screwed you when he thought he was doing you a favor after you had already baited your traps wrong and looked bad when you were getting poor results when you were trying to crab cooperatively at the beginning of the season. Yeah he has a less than perfect crew, but if you don't make sure using the right bait for the crab you are fishing for, he is not leading or making sure his boat is performing. Maybe he will figure it out, but out of all the captains shown, he would be my last pick.

I used to smoke 2 cartons a week (3 packs a a day). If a cigarette lasts 5 minutes, that is 5 hrs a day 1 was lit. This chain smoking.

What Phil did was plain insane. No wonder why he was dead at age 53. :reader

I noticed Sig is smoking again after his heart attack. :(
