It would take a lot of birds to completely clean a cut field of corn out i have seen ducks go into a field for weeks with 10 k birds and they keep going back so there must be food left in it.

Born to hunt we put nets up to stop the migration my net goes to 20,000 ft in my area. I hope people are not gullible to believe this stuff. So only high flyers get by us in kansas did you listen to how stupid this idea is but its been around for years.

The number of acres of corn planted north of us is staggering it numbers in the millions so there is a lot of corn left on the ground if only a small portion is lost

Just googled how much corn can a mallard eat a day said 6-8 oz a day so bushel of corn would feed over a thousand ducks a day not very much in a bushel 63 lbs would probally be less than 4 5 gallon buckets

Semi unrelated but someone put this pic on FB and said it was one of their grandparents. Crowley, LA. 1920s. November 9th and 10th. Limits of mallards and Canada’s. Idk what all changed, but something obviously did. Grass looks to be still green in the photo so I doubt it was it was during a polar vortex. Which is what it takes to push a few big ducks down these days.

How many specks in that photo - or the entire state at that time? Things have always changed...

6-8 oz of shelled corn is approximately 1 cup of corn not very much
