Looking for information on diver hunting in Port Charlotte harbor? I am in process of purchasing home in North Port and would like to link up with anyone who has information regarding diver hunting in the area?
Are guides available? What is public hunting pressure typically? When is peak of migration in the area? Anyone do layout hunts or what type of boat is required to safely navigate area?

Very familiar with open water hunting............have hunted Lake Michigan extensively and have equipment, boat, and long line decoys.

    Thanks for your feedback.

Huge difference down this way. There are some great hutning oppurtunities your way but you will be surprised to see that big water hunting is often not done in Florida.

Get ahold of some of the guys over on the United Waterfowlers of Florida. Become a member and it's worth every penny for the contacts and info.

    Welcome to the sunshine state!

I use to hunt charlotte harbor often; big water is fun, but definitely not the only way to hunt out there. your gear will work great. we hunted out of a carolina skiff and never had safety issues. As for peak migration its pretty unpredictable; normally Jan was better than Dec and never hunted the first split out there. contrary to popular belief UWF is not required to find hunting info or opportunities in the sunshine state.

I've enjoyed a few layout hunts on the Indian river on the east coast.

I'm unfamiliar with the west coast.
