We had something similar happen. It was limited to a trailer park though. Car knocked the regulator the whole park was fed through. All the pilot lights that get .25 psig I believe were getting 60-70 psig. First due engine pulls up and parks and soon has 6 trailer burning around the engine. Pretty well emptied that particular park and as luck would have it the few trailers that moved back made the place trashier.

Itkind of angers me the idiots that rode it out in New Bern then when I got bad put a bunch more people in danger to come get their dumb ***.

Seen a guy died from hooking up two extension cords outside in the rain. Wow....

Another guy died after being blown away checking on his hunting dogs. That’s some serious wind to literally blow you away and kill you.

Wind is funny. I literally have 80mph at my house twice a year. Never makes weather channel headlines. No population, so no need to make a big deal. I get 30’ seas frequently.
    Never a mention made.
Can you imagine the weather channel if 30’ seas were hitting the east coast? Non freaking stop coverage.
It’s all about marketing and where the people live.

I worked for Bosch Power Tools, which had a factory in New Bern, for six years in the 80s and early 90s. The other big industry there at the time was Hatteras Yachts. The Sheraton Hotel was right on the water and was the only big classy hotel there at the time. Maybe it is the Doubletree now? That town had a delightful district of historic and irreplaceable homes. I think the flooding from the rain associated with this hurricane will exact a heavy toll on New Bern. I pray for all there.
