To old, to fat, to many gray hairs, to many hurting knees, hurtin elbows, I cant see, cant take the heat.....All this before the age of 46 in a couple weeks. I guess as they say, "its not the years, its the mileage".
But on the bright side, perseverance has, so far, paid off.
877 gallons in fuel, borrowing staff from other places, high heat/evaporation, and rain that thankfully hasnt provided flooding, the table is set for Fall in the form of 6 or so varieties of duck groceries.

Now, if only we get a budget and herbicide and a willing pilot, next Spring maybe we can spray some of the "bad" weeds before they take over.

Helpers. John and Chad with a stogie.

After both pumps decided to run, the tall, skinny snow geese liked the free eats coming thru the pipes

Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue and doing amphetamines

Pelicans and egrets were playing in the mud, eating carp, buffalo, shad and other sushi......I cant get the pic of the exposed mud to load, but the area is now thankfully dry.
Now for the mud to support some moist soil plants.
Only 3 1/2 months to go....

I know Mr. John real well. He's a bit older than me, but grew up together going to the same church and doing some hunting together...he took me on my first duck hunt back when he worked at Carlyle. That man can cook one heckuva pork burger in a duck blind!! does his fair share of eatin em too

He is for sure! I've seen him many times, shirt untucked, boots untied, dragging his laces two feet behind him and covered in who knows what...let's say dirt, smiling away. Heard him say the statement before that "if you ain't dirty, you ain't workin hard enough"
