On a another note regarding available ducks in the area: How do you have success with these late season, winter pattern, gray cloudy day, decoy shy, call shy ducks ?

Wish we could at least get some mid season ducks.

Hey Danny or anyone - Does anyone know if the old Dempsey operation is still going across from the Goose Lake that is just above Upper Peoria Lake ? If I remember correctly they had different compartments of flooded corn that they pumped / flooded during the course of the season. 36,000 mallards at Goose lake would indicate they are still operating. Seems like there was another operation close by that pretty much operated the same way. Neither one of them would go out until 0800. They have always kind of been "under the radar" but they used to kill a ton of ducks. I never got to hunt there but had a retired Dr. that did. He said it was awesome !!

Quite a few clubs up that way have flooded corn now. Roots ie:Mallard Farms, is the biggest I assume. And I heard it just sold to 12 people all putting up $180k a piece.

Dempsey's does still exist but was bought by that retired CAT big shot that bought everything else up that way last year.

And them 36,000 Mallards you're asking about, well them there's Randy's ducks. :dv

Yep That about sums it up.
The old Dempsey club right off the East River is nothing but a big rest area.I heard
it is planted and not hunted. The retired Cat guy did buy several clubs over there.
Rice Pond also holds a lot of birds. They only have natural food and do quit well.

I laugh every time I hear Randy's ducks. He does think he owns them.I would
guess that most of the birds[42000[are from Randy Roots.I didn't hear that
Randy sold Mallard Farms, but I had heard it was for sale.

Couple weeks ago my buddy and I hunted Woodford on the north end.It
is really a sight to see that many ducks.

Yes, Danny is, and he'd be more than delighted to send you photographs of all the great shoots they had at the club.

I must admit that I have hunted 2 times with retired Cat guy.
I worked for his brother in law.

I offered to buy Root's,but he wouldn't take a check.
