Crawfish have been crazy the last few weeks.. they are everywhere and the bass are plugged full..

IMO ...50 degree water is to cold, or they did not like your bait, or there is none in that pond..
Corn is always better for bait in colder water then as it get up in the 70's fish or catfood work better.. IMO

If my memory serves, a can of cat food punched a couple times with a church key was lights out.

But it's been over a decade since I've gone after those little bugs.

My dad and I in the summer used to have a couple of traps on the Sacramento River off Pocket Road back when it was farmland.

We did well using Vets dog food punched a bunch of times with a church key.

The tail meat from those red crawdads from the rice make make great additions to a sardine wrap on a K15 Kwik Fish for river Chinook. Used to squeeze the juice from the bodies on my back bouncing roe too.

Hey don't be hitting on the cow patty ponds.. Some of the best frogging that I ever had was in a cow patty pond area..

During a cold snap one spring we got on a pretty good hunt as the frogs were sitting on every patty you could see.. and a whole bunch others hoppin behind the herd of cows... I think it just got to cold for them and they were trying to keep warm by sitting on a patty...crawdads are know to nibble on a fresh patty up in the hills too.. makes them real tasty..

Gives a whole new meaning to “surf and turf”.
