Is he the Chesapeake forum member who had a Corvette and a Viper?
David, I believe he did.
CG, I think he passed almost 2 years ago.
Definitely an odd guy, but I’m sorry to hear he passed.
Just like everything else around these parts...we get all or nothing,no happy medium. Use to be a few fish hawks around, most nested out on the buoys or duck blinds, now they are like black birds. Nesting on top of houses, lights at the ball field, cell phone towers, water tanks and any where an elevated spot is vacant. Picking up dead mud shad in the yard every day and having them roost on the house popping on the architectural shingles is not what I call a pleasant bird! Then you have the move ins that you hear at the grocery store.. "We just saw an Osprey, we are so excited"
Which leads to the "Poquoson Wildlife" and "Salt Life" stickers on every car or truck window. Between Ospreys, ants and comorants...we are doomed. Btw,where are all the people coming from??
Does anyone know someone that can put up an osprey nesting pole? Upper shore. Thanks.
I believe Chesapeake Wildlife Hertitage used to, not sure if they still do: http://www.cheswildlife.org/
Will contact them. Thanks.
Yes that was him. He was my coworker, friend and next door neighbor. We had (have) three osprey nest boxes we built on the Wicomico in front of our homes and always enjoyed keeping track of their progress throughout the summer, while drinking beer of course. The nest boxes prevented them from nesting on our piers and boats.
When and why did he die?
I hate it when these guys I sort of know just disappear!
May of 2017. A combination of both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. The neighborhood misses him because Carolina Girl is correct, he was an odd duck
