The pheasant hunting in California has become dismal. The duck club I am in has converted what was left of any pheasant habitat into duck habitat... (I can't complain, as that is what the club is intended for). But I got lucky on our opener for a 2 bird limit in short order.... Probably my last limit off the club.

I would love to see photos or videos of you guys that actually have some pheasants to hunt. Other upland photo's are of course welcome.

I KNOW YOUR FEELING. THE PHEASANT HUNTING THAT USED TO BE GREAT HERE
IN THE CORNBELT OF ILLINOIS IS A THING OF THE PAST.
We are, for the most part, down to a "put and take" circumstance and I doubt if I ever see it again in my lifetime as I'm reduced to "blocking" the end of the fields.
Quail have vanished along with the many Hedge rows.
I guess I can't really complain as I was lucky enough to see some of real great days in my lifetime.

The above is a link to a Wounded Warrior Hunt we did in South Dakota. It was aired on Fox Sports North. Some pretty cool footage... including dozens busting near dark in the afternoon in a cattail slough. The place is loaded with them. Second year in a row we did the hunt, first year that we filmed it. You can see in the video, my dog, Coot, almost catching a rooster twice.
    Enjoy.

Lots of tight flushing birds right there.

I agree 100% with Mark, we've seen a huge decline in phes numbers here. Less hedge and vector sprays all standing water,,,, a deadly recipe for upland birds.

    Great looking pup 2point.
