I just purchased a 55 mag hyperdrive on a 1860 Excel F4 hull i have noticed that i need to top off the oil regularly or at least keep a close eye on it, is this normal? I love the added power on this new setup but the old stock 35 I ran never went thru oil as this motor is this normal?
    Thanks

No, not normal. Was motor modified from stock 35 or was it bought from factory as a 55? Sounds as if rings or valve seats are leaking. If it was modified by someone other than factory. Possible everything inside motor was replaced other than valve guides and rings. Or motor needs a few more break in hrs. on it to seat rings. I would also check inside belt housing to see if out put shaft seal is leaking into housing.
