Hookups first 15 casts then on and off. Visiting family in a couple days way down under (Australia) and low and behold I have the “Salmon” hole just down the street from our stop over vacation house. This place is no secret. Salmon are stacked on the backside of this reef cruising waiting for the bait fish that get pushed over the reef. They hit your minnow spoon like a fright train and take off. Pretty wild.

Day 1 evening I sucked. Lost three, one donkey or “Cracker” as I was told . 2nd evening I got on the board with three. Now I got this figured out. You had to cast a mile to reach the fish for starters. 10 lb braid and reel in very quickly.

Today we finished up early with morning activities family was out and about me and my new “Mate”. Headed out to the hole.

We spotted a dark cloud instantly from the bluff moving about in close. Didn’t know whether this was bait fish or Salmon. First cast proved salmon. These were solid fish 10-12 lbs. I hit this pod of fish until they carried out too far and I lost sight. Depended on what schools you got into. Size ranges from 1 lb up to the low teens. These Aussie salmon are sort of like our steelhead but fight harder. You only live once.

    Good day Mate!

Sweet, do they have pink or white meat and do they taste like our Salmon?

Looks like a kingfish or yellowtail. No teeth?

Yep. Would be interested to see a top view of the fish. From profile of both photos the fork in the tail looks different
