My first was born I August. I learned a valuable lesson. 2nd kid born in May, 3rd born in April. I missed turkey season on the 3rd, but I was ALL about ducks back then.

I’m under no illusion that I wouldn’t be able to miss future birthdays during hunting season. Only thing would be, I’d get to take a son or daughter hunting on his birthday when he is old enough, if he or she likes it. Still, it would be terrible timing.

I’m “shooting” for a summer birthday for any children we may have.

Your wife won't like the summer pregnancy too much. Bearing all that weight in the hottest part of the year.
That's part of the reason our 2nd 2 were born in April and May.

I’m probably not going to enjoy her being pregnant no matter what time of year, and she is the one pushing for a kid here.

But, duly noted. It gets hot here. By summer, I was thinking June.

I have a ton of gear to repair, decoys to paint and organize and put away. That should keep me busy until its time to start getting ready to put in my garden. If I have any spare time I will get back to carving my set of cedar wigeon decoys.

They just know you are going to change, and if you don't, they know they can change you. The problem comes in when they can't.

I ran my wife through 3 duck seasons before I asked her to marry me just to let her know how bad it could be for her. She hung in there like a hair in a biscuit and still does but tends to get a little testy toward the end of the season.
