It just struck me: Is one supposed to go by the time for the previous or following Saturday when hunting Wednesday? Or does one look up sunrise and subtract a half hour? I've always gone with the following Saturday. Mostly.

Considering sunrise changes every day by a minute or so I always go off of sunrise minus 30 minutes.

Technically it's different for every shoot day...save a couple that stay the same.

The printed ones are general area and not specific. I go with whatever works best for me...especially between areas. Early time for the morning. Later time for the evening. Or I go by “feel”. If it feels like shoot time go for it. Shoot times are simply suggestions anyway. Loose guidelines mostly.

I always get one of those printed shoot times and keep it in my blind bag.

I go with what the weather channel site says sunrise and sunset is for the area I'm hunting

    I use any weather app...

I was accustomed to adding a minute/eventually subtracting a minute from previous day’s ST.

But when I was at a refuge a few weeks ago, I realized they used the same time for that Wednesday as they had the saturday prior. By how I had learned it would have been 4 minutes later then saturday’s ST. I found this odd, but worked in my benefit.

Now I just go by sunrise minus 30 for my location, which aligns to their legal deffinition.

I miss the air raid sirens in the grasslands! Can't go wrong with that! Lol. Normally if I'm not at a refuge where it's posted I use the AccuWeather site for sunrise sunset nearest me.
