Hey J I’ll take one if you have extra. Special page in that issue.
These are excellent ideas.
At the very least we gotta find a way to get this water through the hill first then move to more permanent supplies. What about CWA contribution towards the pumping costs. They could even do a dedicated fundraiser to hold funds specifically for this cause. Id be willing to bet members would step up in a huge fashion.
We can all agree this nonsense has to stop up here. No more excuses.
The Lost River Sucker is a 2018 Recovery Champion
To correct the CWA article, I believe it is the Feds that pay for pumping the water that is to be transported through The Hill. TID supplies the water and makes it available to the Refuge. The Refuge needs to find the $ so they can, amazingly, flood their own refuge. To quote Bill Belichick, "Do your job". Perhaps the USFWS needs to read their mission statement. The barren wasteland that is LK needs to end.
Yeah man very cool page!
With so much money being sought after, and approved via grants, to improve habitat......wouldn't one think money would be available here to provide brood habitat?
Heck, Sutter can't even get flooded.
Task force? Don't need a task force. Need some leadership from established positions.
Klamath Lake is at 99% of capacity. More water headed out over next two weeks down Klamath River to help juvenile salmon.
So this isn’t something that popped up overnight, this has been going on for 20 years.
It’s good to see CWA finally making this a priority issue.
But some of you claiming that the refuge staff is somehow not trying to do less with more is a bit absurd. They’re at the mercy of the USFWS and all their sub agencies, the Endangered Species people are one of them their at odds with. (The sucker supporters). They know more needs to be done.
Now, the parent agency (USFWS) has to take some responsibility in not trying to mitigate the lack of water for LK, they should put more finances toward running water through the hill and repairing the pumps on LK that have been broken for a while.
Perhaps these are two items CWA can pump a bunch of money into and assist in alleviating the water issues on LK.
It’s a terrible state of affairs up there but to all of a sudden notice it and now want to get after the problem........
Love it when its the refuge staff problem .. everyone should apply and make crappy wages and try it . I’m sure they can fix the pumps. Pay for water ,deliver it. Deal
With the politics, take all the cockle burs out ,ect
It’s not rocket science...
