We have a big group of families that head over to the Missouri River and fish for them every spring. At times we may have 30-40 people on the bank, usually around 7-10 people jerking hooks through the water, the rest sitting in chairs watching. We usually have a few tags between us. Big fish fry, mix of paddle fish, catfish, drum, walleye/sauger. Good times.

One of the stinkingest critters I have ever been around while being cleaned. LEO has their hands full with the Asians behavior regarding the sale of their roe. I simply have no affinity for cat food.

We don’t get many here nor do we get any big ones but they are around. Always kinda neat to run into them. D3A1A5E6-A0BC-4CC7-B0F0-4D2FE6A905BD.jpeg 55B1A744-762A-41BC-832B-6E915F0D8E15.jpeg

They definitely stink, but if prepared properly (remove the spinal chord and any red meat), they really eat pretty good. i do all of the cooking and prep outside ( and Clean up). Deep fried , or dry brined, and smoked, they turn out pretty good. We don't keep many, and always throw back the sows so they can breed again.

It is really amazing how many russians come to missouri in the spring strictly to fish, and eat the roe. they eat that stuff right on the boat.
