    Fellow Refuge members,

Looking for some advice on starting up a wooduck project. I am fortunate to have access to some private property that holds a good amount of wooducks and I would like to do my part in improving numbers and hatch success. Let me know what has worked for you and what has not. I am open to all info as I am green to wooduck boxes.

Thanks in advance for the help. I hope I am not to late for this upcoming breeding season.

    First off - thank you
Second you need wood duck boxes. Contact CWA or spec or Mort on this forum about what to do.

Just follow the CWA box making layout set on poles and your good to go. We set ours March 18th last year ended with full boxes with multiple hatches per box. Check with Mort he helped me. If Marks having the wood duck 101 course again go check that out too you learn a lot.

Otherwise set boxes and they will come. Surprisingly we shot 4x the number of wood ducks this year from my rice blind with boxes close by.

    Spread the boxes out.

    Use metal poles if possible

Putting them in the shade is always good. Gets hot in those boxes.
Nows the time since the last drought killed a lot of bass that were in ponds before th drought
