It might be a bit early, but the first sightings have occured. We saw about 6 on our lease south of Lacassine this past weekend. Also, a friend saw about a dozen just west of Crowley early last week. Its almost time.

A big clump of teal just west of Gueydan on the south side of La. 14. I heard of an individual that said his marsh lease was holding teal in Grand Chenier. As for us, I think a whole two resident ducks were jumped from the marsh this past weekend. So much water in Southwest Louisiana so I don't know.

I'd not write off the marsh until I've seen what happens after the guns have gone off in the rice.

My impression has been that it's a good thing they backed the season up as far as possible, as I've not seen the numbers I'd like to much of anywhere, let alone in our marsh. But I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised when the shooting starts.

Your right Rick, and that's always the case with Teal. I think they will have many more opportunity to duck the marsh hunters with the amount of open water though. We'll see. How do ya'll normally do out of your pothole for teal season?

Saw a few last week. Went Saturday, shot 7 between two of us. More hunters seen than teal, but at least the weather was nice. Didn't bother Sunday.

Only logged full limits on 5 of our 15 September teal mornings there last year, but we didn't have too many really slow ones. "Worst" was 4.
