    Morning Fellas -
Well, its finally started. We got this old log cabin for my Missus' last Nov. for her birthday. Turns out, it was from her mothers' side of the family 150 yrs ago, but didn't know it until after we bought it. She has always wanted one but we had no idea how to put one up. A good friend of ours did and he volunteered for the project.

What a job this is. And, let me tell you, these old Popular sticks are HEAVY!
The dims are approx. 15 x 16 and will be about 7 1/2' tall on the in-side walls. We will have a front porch of some size, depending mainly on what size old timbers and barn wood I can scrounge.

so far, its taken 3 full days to get it this far.

I reckon we'll start on the roof trusses next week. Then the chinking. She sure is a happy camper. Little Maggie Mae will have a nice cool spot to sleep under the porch.

I hope this project don't get in the way of Crappie Fishin'.....

For Valentine's Day, My Missus' got a trlr load of oak 1 x 4's bout' 16' long. They had been up in the loft of the barn at ThorneSide Cabin for around 50 years or so. With about 4" of mouse, bird, coon, and Lord knows what other kind of poop along with wasp and dirt daubers nests, and dust. It was terrible... My Missus' was a trooper and helped me load it all up. Coughing, spitting, and sneezing the whole time.

That's whats going on the roof trusses to nail the tin on. Trying to keep it old.

Can't wait to see the final product. My asthma and allergies would be killing me after getting that wood down without an oxygen mask!

We both coughed and sneezed all evening. My buddy who is putting all of this together said that we should be under roof with porch finished by this time next weekend. Then, the Missus and I will complete the chinking...

One thing for sure, it is a big under-taking for us, but boy, is the Boss ever going to be happy. A spring-time project!

Way cool. My wife would kill for something like that. When it's done you need to round up a bunch of bluegrass pickers, a big smoker grill and a ton of friends for a big party and dance. :tu:tu:tu
