^^ I can see why birds would flare. They don't look natural IMO. Are steel tanks or concrete blinds that expensive to install ? It's permanent fix and hunters can brush them as they see fit.

Gotta love trees. I like hunting near them, but not under them.

The Tules were once so thick in those areas you had to stomp out a pond in some of the better areas.
My best hunts were in 20 yard circles stomped in a sea of damn near impenetrable tules. They were so thick that you could fold them over and stand on them and be 3' above the water, it was amazing for slow day naps. Or in Juvi's case a little tule romp'in with the little lady.

We used to call them float a lounges. Long before blinds, where current blind 22 is, there were small potholes. Bases from the tules and some cattails were like tree roots. I’ve got a picture somewhere of me holding my dads gun with a limit of birds. Spoony Central is in the background and it’s all watergrass.

Well in situations like that I wouldn't call it lovemaking, times like that are more like the single days of getting busy. Just imagine the stories you could tell your kids about where they were conceived, in the CO hole at the Colusa refuge.:l:l:l
