    • Waterfowl: The limit for pintail ducks was increased to two birds a day in all general waterfowl seasons, due to improved conditions in their breeding areas. In addition, special seasons for hunters under age 16 will be staggered to allow an individual hunter to participate in youth hunts on both sides of the state. The special youth hunt is set for Sept. 22-23 in western Washington, followed by a youth hunt Sept. 29-30 in eastern Washington.

That's pretty cool about the youth hunts. It's also good the pintails came back.

Couple of pintail deeks just made it back into the mix. Took them out last year. We get young pintail hens that sometimes fly in with the wigeon especially early. Rather than mess with it we left the pintail deeks at home. Didn't shoot a pintail all season.Usually we shoot a couple a year. Purposely did not hunt an area that gets a lot of pintail. Mixed flocks are a pain in that area to begin with.

That's great that kids will get a couple of chances to get a crack at the ducks before the adults! Hopefully an unnamed refuge manager at McNary will fill up the Wallula Unit with water well in advance of that 9/29 date, unlike in years past....
