Anyone hunted these recently? I usually hunt the Yakima Valley area but was thinking of heading South and scout this area possibly for the last few weekends of the season. Is it worth the time?

Too warm! Ducks are scattered throughout the basin.

These areas are best when we get a good freeze and lockdown. The islands are holding birds but they are educated and patterned.

They'll sit all day and leave at dark. Fun to watch just not great to hunt.

That being said you may track down some birds?

I was there after Christmas and was stopped by the Game Warden and he said he had only checked two groups all year that had limits.

I've never seen it so slow down there, especially for this late in the year.

    WEIRD YEAR!!!

2 limits all year? Have you ever even seen it that bad in early and late November when the first waves arrive? I can understand it’s sucking right now with warm weather but should have had some banger days in November which aren’t reliant on cold weather.

This is coming from the Game Warden who knows when he is checking, who he is checking, how often you get my point. This is just what he told me. I have no doubts a number of limits have been shot this year. Trfies was asking if anyone had been down recently, I had and it was not good just letting him know my experience.

Well you may just wanna hope next year is cold, not looking good for the next two plus weeks. I’m sure you’ve got other things to hope for between now an next season!:l

LOL, yeah the forecast doesn't look too great. Went out Saturday morning on the river and it was socked in so foggy we could hardly see our decoys. We could hear birds moving, just couldn't see anyo_O
