Seems like a lot of ABW fans! thanks a lot for everyone's thoughts and insight on this. So im assuming that ABW is harder/ denser and crisper than coco but not as hard or crisp as acrylic?? Correct me if im wrong. You still get that "wood sound" out of ABW but it has better durability and is more dense than other wood.

    ABW is clanky.
As far as durability, yes very durable as elephants use the trees for rubbing posts. ABW also has a good amount of natural oils in it which again helps alot when it comes to swelling and what not.
But as with all wood calls, the owner needs to properly care for it to insure it lasts a lifetime

Any of you call makers ever used Hawaiian Koa wood to make a call? It is supposedly an excellent wood for musical instruments. I have several blocks, but have never gotten around to having anyone make me a call with it. Was just wondering if it would be worthwhile?

Koa makes some fine sounding as well as looking calls.

Wouldn't use it as a tone board but would sleeve it.
