I don't care how old "Junior" is. Take him hunting. If a person turns 18 in the calendar year, they can buy the reduced fee junior license. My son got the reduced price last year but he could not hunt in the junior hunts. He guided. Technically, they need to be under 18 to participate in the junior hunt. But what do I know. Glad you are mentoring a kid.

I hear you, was on the East side of Tule in the grain on Saturday morning and seen 2 geese and a handful of ducks go down between all the groups in the area.

I was at the Cal-Ore lunch and one of the "kids" walked up to claim a prize and gave me beard envy!!:l

My twelve year old son got 3 ducks and a Speck and pulled the trigger a lot!!

Now that is a full dark brown beard to be jealous. Mine comes in with too much grey. Makes me look 10 years older. :) Nice pair of mallards. Congratulations to your son. Like the habitat.

Wow! That young man does not look like what I previously thought of as a junior hunter.

Doesn't matter whether they have a junior license, for the "youth waterfowl seasons" they have to be 17 or under.

Youth Waterfowl Hunting Days Regulations (NOTE: To participate in these Youth Waterfowl Hunts, federal regulations require that hunters must be 17 years of age or younger and must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult 18 years of age or older.)

One refuge manager told me that she wanted her jr hunters to be under 16.
I didn't say anything to her but she can't really decide that.
